Want to spend less time in the classroom? Watching the following videos before your skills testing can make your class quicker and more efficient. Take a few minutes to review them—it’ll be well worth it.
Note: If you’re taking BLS or CPR & First Aid, you can skip these videos.
We send out online course invitations three times daily between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. To access the American Heart Association course, you’ll need a computer or tablet—phones are not compatible.
The course adapts to your current knowledge level, so its length varies based on your experience and skills. Here’s what to expect for timing:
BLS: 1–2 hours
ACLS or PALS: 3–4 hours
The best part? You can pause and return to the course anytime—you don’t need to complete it in one sitting.
Taking the ACLS or PALS course? Here’s exactly what to expect on your testing day to make things simple and stress-free.
When it’s your scheduled date and time, head to your testing location with these essentials:

Your virtual American Heart Association instructor will guide you step-by-step through the required skills. Once you’ve completed the session, you will receive your certification card the very same day.
On the day of your course, grab your free keychain CPR mask! These masks come in a variety of fun colors, so you can pick your favorite.
Using a CPR breathing mask is essential when performing CPR. It’s a key step in practicing universal precautions and staying safe while helping others.

Feeling tired or need extra time to complete your skills? No problem. Call our office, and we’ll reschedule you at no additional cost. You can also stay in the room to finish up your skills at your own pace.
